Abstract

The hearer and his context. The importance of the context of the hearer with regard to homiletics are exploited. Concepts, such as modernisation and secularisation are explained to clarify the context of the hearer. The thesis that homiletics should accept the challenge which modernisation poses to the church, is defended.
