Re: Inside of the god-picture writing

by Victor Counted (2015-11-05)

In response to Inside of the god-picture writing

Ideally, the argument in the paper is that they are different with regards to the meanings and usage of both terms: God images and God concepts. The former been referred to as an emotional experience with God while the latter as you noted is more of the enthusiastic aspect of such interaction and are often cognitive in nature since they are learnt through active religious participation and memorization of religious texts. The former is also often a personalised encounter with God and usually originates through our representation of self and others based on our encounters with our early caregivers. However, both concepts are NOT the same, although most researcher often use them together without noting their difference with the assumption that they mean the same thing.
