Kobus Kok is assistant editor of Verbum et Ecclesia and Associate Professor in the Department of New Testament Studies at the University of Pretoria. He obtained the following degrees from the University of Pretoria: BTh (Theology), MDiv (summa cum laude), MTh (summa cum laude) and PhD (summa cum laude). He was granted a scholarship by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) for doctoral study at the University of Bonn in Germany (2007) under the supervision of Prof. Michael Wolter. He is currently busy with a second doctorate in Religious Studies on the ethics of conflict and reconciliation in Paul at the Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands where he received several bursaries in order to pursue his doctoral studies (2010-2013). He is a member of the following national and international scholarly societies: Society of Biblical Studies (SBL), DAAD Alumni (SA) Association, the International Context Group and the New Testament Society of South Africa. He is also the Pan-African facilitating editor of the book series Theology in Africa at LIT Verlag in Münster, Germany. He is the author and co-author of several scholarly books and articles in peer-reviewed journals published internationally, and has lectured at prestigious Universities like Oxford in England and Bonn, Mainz and Regensburg in Germany. His latest forthcoming edited publication is titled “Sensitivity to Outsiders: Exploring the dynamic relationship between mission and ethics in Early Christianity" (WUNT II, Mohr Siebeck, Tuebingen, 2013). Kobus is also a weekly co-presenter of a radioprogram “Verstaan jy wat jy lees” with 70 000 listeners and an editor of the Biblical knowledge website “Bybelkennis” where he has published more than 50 articles, building the bridge between academy and industry.
